National Quilting Day 2015; English Paper Piecing; Show and Tell!

I've been a little lazy about posting to the blog the last couple of weeks.....Spring Break won out over posting stuff!!  Sorry!  

The big brown truck brought lots of new stuff last week.  We had to re-arrange the shop so everything would have a home!

We're putting the finishing touches on our 'row' so, stay tuned!

English Paper Piecing has spread like wild fire in our neck of the woods.  It's so popular we sold out of several sizes of hexagon papers and had to re-order.  
I had no idea how many different shapes and sizes of papers there were for E.P.P.  No idea.  

Since I have poor impulse control, we now have lots and lots of E.P.P. supplies:  several sizes of hexagon papers; different sizes of diamond papers; Dresden Plate papers; several different sizes of Milliner's needles and two kinds of water soluble glue sticks.  

If we don't have the size (or shape) papers you need, just let me know.  I'll be happy to order whatever you need.

I've been working on a top secret project for a friend and keep putting all the stuff in a pile on my desk (hoping nothing falls onto the floor....the baby will eat anything).  

When I saw these clear organizers I knew we had to have them.  The tote pictured below has dividers, the others don't.

Dorothy has been bitten by the English Paper Piecing bug! She brought in these hexagons she made (and pieced together) in less than a week.

English Paper Piecing stuff; Block magazine; Quiltsmart kits; Secret Sisters and yesterday's "Show and Tell".

We've been bitten by the English Paper Piecing bug so, I decided to have the papers in the shop so we don't have to cut them out by hand.  ICK!  

"Paper Pieces" in four sizes arrived this week:  1/2", 1", 1 1/2" and 2" are now in stock!  I'm very proud to say these are made in the USA.  YIPPEE!!

Melba asked if we had any "Bobbin Buddies".  We didn't but, we do now!  

These snap onto your bobbin to keep the thread from unraveling and getting into a twisted mess with everything else in your sewing box!  Each package contains 12 "buddies".  What a spiffy idea.  Bobbin Buddies........

I've admitted in the past that I have poor impulse control.  Nothing has changed.  When I saw a new book for Go! cutters, I knew we had to have it in the shop.  

"Go! Scrapping" and is full of yummy patterns to make quilts, totes, runners and other stuff using your Go! cutter. We sold several copies yesterday so, they're going quickly!  

We also received the latest issue of "Block" magazine by Missouri Star Quilt Company.

I love anything that makes our quilting life easier whether that's a gadget, gizmo or a thingy. 

The Mondo and Midi bags have been so popular, I decided to order some different Quiltsmart kits. 

Mary's Flower Garden, Lone Star and Bitty Broken Lone Star kits came in this week.  

These kits take all the headache out of making these quilts.  Oh, happy day! 

Karen's tote class was such a success, we decided to stock the bigger sizes of "Soft and Stable".  We now have all four sizes (in white and black).  

The latest arrivals are 72" X 58".  Perfect for the bigger project you might need this nifty stabilizer for.

We'd sold out of the smaller sizes of Olfa cutting mats but, they too arrived this week.  

We how have the smaller 12" x 18" and 18" x 24" mats as well as the big mac daddy mats (24"X36") in stock. 

These two bolts of "Piecemakers" arrived this week too.  

Designer Kathy Schmitz (for Moda) captured the true essence of quilting in these prints using words and symbols descriptive of quilt blocks.  

These prints are on cream and toffee with varied splotchy patches here and there.  Does that make any sense?  

The background pops more on the toffee print than the cream.  The picture is pretty true to the way these look in person.  

Lynn stopped by yesterday to get the gifts left by her Secret Sister (Candy):  seasonal potholders (made by Candy) and several books to read.  

We love the potholders:  Fourth of July; Spring; Christmas and Fall.  How cute are these?

Vicki's 'sister' (Sharon) made this tote using Kansas Troubles (Vicki's favorite) charm packs and mini-charms!  How cute is this?  

Sharon placed the mini-charms on point to make a super special tote for Vicki.

While she was here, Vicki brought the "Scrap Crazy" quilt she recently made using Kansas Troubles layer cakes.  This is a huge quilt (queen) even without borders! 

I'm totally biased, I LOVE this quilt and all the K.T. fabrics!

Pat also had some entries for Show and Tell!  She brought in a Disappearing Nine Patch top she made using all batiks.  

She wanted a backing for this top but, we ran out of time before she had to go home.  Her son was coming for a visit and she wanted to be there when he arrived.   

We made her pinky swear promise to bring it back so we could oooh and aahh over it some more! 

Pat also brought in this top she recently finished for herself.  

After making quilts for all of her family she decided it was time to keep one for herself.  

I don't remember what the name of this block is but we love the movement this top has.  

Louise brought in two quilts she recently finished for two of her granddaughters.  

Louise purchased a package of "Psalms" bible verses, bordered them and added spacers to make it the size she wanted each quilt to be.

After picking out a backing for the top, we asked her to bring it back when she gets it quilted.

We were thrilled when we opened the boxes left by the big brown truck this week.   

We received (almost) the entire line of "Tea Time" by Mary Engelbreit for Quilting Treasures.  How cute are these?  

I see placemats, kitchen curtains, tea cozys, appliance covers (and quilts) in the very near future! 

These are perfect for the tea lover in your life!

Our re-order of Accu Quilt Go! cutter dies came in too.  

When I opened the box to see the snowflake and snowman dies, I had to laugh.  

We received an additional 6" of the fluffy white stuff yesterday........after getting 8" of snow that wasn't completely gone from 10 days ago.  

Timing is everything!

It doesn't seem like it today but, spring really is just around the corner.   When I saw this next collection, I knew we had to have it in the shop.   

"Summer Breeze" by Sentimental Studios (for Moda) is just what the doctor ordered for a snow day! 

We received the layer cakes and jelly rolls just in time to start a fun summer themed project.  

"Fresh Cut" by Basic Grey (also for Moda) layer cakes and jelly rolls came in thanks to the big brown truck! 

The prints of this line literally jump off the fabric.  

The colors are muted and toned down, as only Basic Grey can do.  

                

Calling all "Americana" fans!  I love this panel.  It has a flag at the top with nine blocks of cute Americana stuff in the lower section.  

The panel is called "Summer Festival" by Henry Glass.  We also received the companion fabric for this panel: variegated stars on a blue crackle background.  

Memorial Day and the 4th of July are not that far away.

Judi brought in the wall hanging she recently finished using the paper piecing method.  Judi took Karla's paper piecing class and fell in love with the technique.  

Someone had given Judi a p/p pattern and some fabric but she needed more prints to complete the project.  

Adding prints from the shop with what she already had, she finished her wall hanging and brought it in yesterday for "Show and Tell".  

Great job, Judi!  We love it!
