Twisting and Turning; Cutting Corners; new dies, scissors and kits!

The big brown truck brought some nifty stuff this week.  I love new stuff.  It's like Christmas every time another box arrives!

The "Twist and Turn Bargello Quilts" book by Ellen Wright is full of nifty quilts made using this complicated, yet fairly simple, technique!

The Midi and Mondo bag kits have been so popular, we decided to expand our Quiltsmart kits inventory.

The "Double Wedding Ring" and "Market Bag" kits arrived this week.  Don't tell anyone these are fusible web and super simple to make!

I've watched the video using the "Cutting Corners" ruler several times.  I love this thing.  I usually avoid making quilts that have weird out-of-the-box shapes but, that's no longer the case!

After watching the video one more time (and reading the 16 page booklet included with the ruler) I think I'm ready to try it out.

The unexpected surprise about this ruler is....all the math has been done AND it includes 1/4" seam allowance for each piece cut.  YIPPEE!!!

Back by popular demand:  We received a new order of "Easy Dresden Quilt" kits by Darlene Zimmerman this week too.

We received new dies for the Go! cutter this week. How cute are these little cars?  They would be so cute for a little one's Christmas guilt.

The half square triangles die makes life so much easier when making a gillion half squares!

We've had several requests for high quality scissors.

I personally love each and every pair of the Gingher scissors I have so, we now have several different sizes (7" to 10") of Gingher products (including a pair of pinking shears).

We also have Gingher embroidery scissors, thread snips and sharpening stones in stock.

Pat brought in the queen size hand embroidered quilt she recently finished.  It is truly stunning in person.

Pat has been working on this quilt (off and on) for four years!  Wow!

After getting it quilted, she said this quilt's "forever home" would be on their bed!

Thank You, Mr. Simpson:  Thanks to Mr. Dick Simpson, the Moda Bias Bindings have a new home!

Dick recently made two spindles for all the bias binding we have in the shop.  One spindle has all the solids bias, the second spindle holds the Marbles bias.

Thanks, Dick.  Your creations are a very welcome addition to the shop.......it keeps them from falling off the table and rolling across the floor! YIPPEE!!

Yesterday, Judi brought in Barb's quilt she recently quilted.

Barb put each "Grandmother's Fan" on different colored backgrounds with black sashing and borders. We love how the fans 'pop' against the black background.

Judi stippled around each fan and used variegated thread to quilt the sashing and borders.

This quilt is truly stunning in person!  I hope my camera captured the quilting and variegated thread.

Thanks Judi (and Barb) for sharing this gorgeous quilt with us.

Joann stopped by yesterday to pick up a little something left by her Secret Sister.....cookies and a homemade refrigerator towel!
