Summer Breeze; Seasonal Silhouettes; Row by Row; Aurifil thread; Hexie books; Show and Tell; a 60th birthday party and Michele's wedding!

It's been a very busy week: Getting ready for Row by Row; new arrivals; a 60th birthday and a wedding!

These four new bolts of "Summer Breeze" by Sentimental Studios came in this week.

These have been back ordered since this collection was released so, we're thrilled to finally get them. YIPPEE!!

"Seasonal Silhouettes" by Edyta Sitar also arrived this week.  We have the full kit of fusible batik blocks and her book by the same name.  Let the appliqueing begin!

More "Row by Row" patterns came in.  The tote bag pattern (pictured on the left) uses four "Row by Row" license plates and other fabrics.

The wristlet pattern (middle picture) uses three license plates with other fabrics.  These are perfect for keeping your stuff in while "Row by Row"ing.

Kits of our row ("A Day At The Beach") and our "Stash Hugger" license plates are also available in the shop.

New colors of Aurifil came in this week.  We received four new colors of yellow (and white).  Just in time for those summer projects!

We've been bitten by the English Paper Piecing bug. Now, we've catapulted ourselves in the realm of English Paper Piecing on steroids!

The two books pictured below will spin you straight up if you're ready for the next step in E.P.P!

"The New Hexagon" by Katja Marek and "Millefiori Quilts 2" by Willyne Hammerstein are our latest additions to the E.P.P. craze!

Vickie C. brought in the latest hexagons she made using "Pieced Hexies" templates (pictured below).

Great job, Vickie!  We love your hexies!

We love it when people bring in their stuff for "Show and Tell".  We're inspired by everyone's creativity but truly love seeing everyone's projects.

Gina brought in this bargello quilt she made for her nephew's graduation/birthday present.  This was her first bargello quilt and she quilted it herself.

Her nephew is a big Iowa fan so she decided to put their mascot on the back of his quilt.

We have a feeling her nephew will love his new quilt.

Kay brought in a project she's been working on for several months.

Her husband ties flies for trout fishing.  She decided to hand embroider this scene of a rainbow trout about to strike at the bait.

We love the different flies Kay embroidered along the borders of this fabulous throw.

We think Dick will love his throw. Great job, Kay.

We love four legged kids.  They're always welcome in the shop.  We offer a drink of water, a pat on the head to all four-legged kids but, they have to agree to have their picture taken and posted to the blog.

Tater Tot (and her human) stopped by recently to check out the amenities at P-Dub's!

We think Tater Tot was happy with his visit.  We noticed a lot of tail wagging before he (and his human) left.

Sally P. (and her sister, Barb) were some of our first customers when we opened to the public in 2009.

Yesterday was Sally's birthday.  Her 60th birthday.....and her 40th wedding anniversary.

Sally and her husband, Ben, live in Oklahoma.  Ben loves to fish so, they decided to drive to Roaring River State Park yesterday so he could go fishing and Sally could come to the shop!

Knowing Sally was coming, we decided to have a surprise birthday party for her when she arrived.

A 60th birthday cake was had by all but I didn't remember to take a picture of it until it was already cut.  OOPS!

Happy 60th Birthday (and 40th anniversary), dear friend.  We hope you had a great day (and that Ben caught a bunch of fish)!

We love you, we miss your face, we wish you lived closer.

Happy 60th, Sally !

Not everyone is thrilled when I ask the take their picture for the blog.

In honor of Father's Day, all fathers who came to the shop yesterday received a free fat quarter of their choice.

Larry W. was brave enough to let me take a picture of him with the free fat quarter he chose.

Thanks, Larry for letting us take your picture!

Sweetness's niece, Michele, married her high school sweetheart, Thatcher, yesterday in a beautiful outdoor ceremony at the "Hummingbird Inn" in Branson, MO.

Thanks, Vicki for working in the shop yesterday so we could attend Michele's wedding.

Wonky Log Cabin blocks and other nifty stuff!

Our Creative Director, Sharon, walked into the shop yesterday with her version of a "Wonky Log Cabin" block.  We loved it.

After much tutoring on her part, I wanted to make one too!  My first attempt wasn't pretty.  Trust me.

My inner fabric goddess told me I can do this: I can whack off a piece of fabric at a weird angle and not worry about it;  I can sew another strip of fabric to it, whack that one off at yet another weird angle and I can keep doing this until it's the size block I want it to be.  I can do this.

When I finished Wonky Block #1, Sharon rescued it from me and made a chicken pin cushion using the pattern from an issue of "Block" magazine. It looks much better as a pin cushion!

I quickly learned the difference between 'subtle wonk" and "severe wonk" while making my blocks.

I decided to use 1930's prints for both Wonky blocks. My second block actually looks like a Wonky Log Cabin block.  YIPPEE!!

Sharon's are much prettier than mine but, in my defense, I just started making these yesterday!

When in doubt, go to www.quiltdad.com for his wonderful tutorials (halfway down the page of the sitemap section, look for "Wonky Log Cabin") where you'll find four different types of Wonky blocks.

Sharon's Secret Sister, Vickie, gave her some paper piecing projects (among other things) as her February 'reveal' gift last Saturday.

Sharon wasted no time getting started.  Yesterday, she brought in the hexagons she's already completed.

Wow!  That was fast!

Not everyone could make it to our "Secret Sister" reveal party last Saturday so, Dorothy 'met' her "sister", Faye, at the shop yesterday.

As it turns out, Dorothy and Faye were college roommates who'd lost touch with one another over the years.

We brought them back together yesterday!

We big brown truck made it through 8" of the fluffy white stuff to bring more goodies this week.

We're thrilled to finally have the Fat Quarter Bundles, Fat Eighth Bundles and Turnovers of "Fresh Air" by American Jane for Moda.  YIPPEE!!

We now have all the pre-cuts of this line in addition to most of it's fabric on the bolt.

If you're a 1930's fan, you'll love this collection.
"Fresh Air" bundles, turnovers and mini-charms.
We also received "Curve It Up" patterns for the Quick Curve Ruler.  This packet contains 12 different blocks using the Q.C.R.

A different pattern for each month!  How cool is that?

Another nifty book by Eleanor Burns:  "Day and Night" offers several different quilts using an acrylic template, which is included.

The Applique Pressing Sheets also arrived this week. These are great to use while making a Mondo or Midi bag.

"Seasonal Silhouettes" blocks 2 and 3 arrived this week.  Each block has laser cut fusible shapes for applique and includes the batik background.

These are by Edyta Sitar for Laundry Basket Quilts.

These batiks found their way to the shop this week. They are from the "Summer Vacation" and "Sun Drenched" lines for Moda.

Both lines sound delightful as I look out the window and see snow falling.......Summer Vacation....Sun Drenched.

Two Bella Solids (by Moda) also showed up this week:  "Summer House Lime" and "Betty's Teal".

Dorothy's husband, Lee, decided to take a quick nap after making two trips to the shop yesterday: once for shopping the second to 'meet' her Secret Sister.

Thanks, Lee.  You're a real trooper.  I'll try to have a pillow and blankie available for your next nap!

Quilts, Secret Sisters, new stuff and Tumbler Totes!

Vickie C. dropped by for Fabric Addicts on Wednesday.  She brought in the "Tumbler" quilt she made for her grand daughter!  How cute is this?

Pat S. made this quilt for her daughter using one of the blocks from the "365 Quilt Blocks" calendar and "Foliage" jelly rolls.

With a some help from Sharon with the layout, Pat recently finished this gorgeous quilt and brought it in yesterday for "Show and Tell".  '

We know Jeanette will love it!

Pat also brought in this quilt she made for her husband, Ivan, as a surprise.  We love the tools fabric she used....I wonder where she got it????

Jacey B. stopped by yesterday for "Show and Tell" with a pink camo throw she made for herself.  It's adorable. She decided to tie the borders.

Great job, Jacey!

While she was here, Jacey opened a gift left by her Secret Sister:  some quilt blocks and a package of "Wonder Clips".

The big brown truck brought some nifty stuff this week.  The "Quick Curve Ruler" is a great way to make curved blocks such as "Metro Hoops" and "Metro Rings" using jelly rolls.

We also received "Curve It Up" booklet which includes directions for 12 different blocks using the QCR.

These are made by Sew Kind of Wonderful!

When I bought my latest sewing machine, the class instructor stressed how important it was to keep it oiled.  We didn't have any sewing machine oil in the shop but, that's no longer the case.

We received "Zoom Spout" Sewing Machine Oil with a spiffy telescoping spout making it easier to get to those hard to reach places.  How cool is that?

We also received "Heat N Bond" on the bolt this week.

If you've been in the shop the past couple of weeks, you might have noticed the wall of big spools of Aurifil thread.

We now have a basket full of the smaller spools in a zillion different colors.

"Seasonal Silhouettes" by Edyta Sitar finally arrived this week.  This is a great book on raw edge applique but has been on back-order for months.

We have all 12 of her raw edge applique quilt blocks, so it's nice to have the book in stock again.

Pat asked me to find some gloves she could use while doing hand embroidery and binding.

We found Therogonomic Hand-Aids gloves in two sizes:  medium and large.  These are great for anyone who has carpal tunnel, arthritis, wrist inflammation or recovering from hand surgery.

We also found Fons and Porter's "Klutz Gloves" in medium and large.

The clearance fat quarters totes are growing (and being moved all over the shop).

We currently have three totes of them (more will be added when I have another cleaning fit).

Sharon's "Tumbler Tote" class was yesterday.  Sandy made this wonderful tote using fall themed prints.

Complete with lining and inside pockets, Sandy has a spiffy new addition to her wardrobe!

Great job, Sandy!  We love your new tote!
