Our "Secret Sisters" club has been very busy this week: Joann, Vicki W. and Nola were in the shop yesterday to pick up the gifts left by their Secret Sister.
Joann R. received a lovely pewter pin from her s/s yesterday. She loved it!
Vicki W. received a gift certificate from her Secret Sister....which she immediately used!
While she was here, Vicki W. also brought something for "Show and Tell".... a western themed quilt she made. We really love the borders and different western prints!
Great job, Vicki!!!! It's wonderful.
Nola S. stopped by to pick up her Moda club and found two gifts from her Secret Sister waiting for her.
Nola's first gift was a place mat with "Give Thanks" printed at the bottom.
Her second gift was a handmade pin cushion. How cute is that?
Tanya and Dennis P. from Springfield stopped by yesterday to pick up the completed "Quilts of Valor" from our all day sew-in September 6th.
We are blessed to have several long-armers who volunteered to quilt their own tops. The deadline to bring back their completed quilt was yesterday, November 1st.
A great big fat "Thank You" to Penny B. (in Illinois) who quilted the rest of the tops we couldn't farm out!
Thanks to Lori V. for bringing the quilted tops back from Illinois and to Vicki W. for bringing them to the shop yesterday (it takes a village).
The quilts Penny quilted were picked up yesterday by their maker who will put the binding on, wash and return them by November 15th. I'll take pictures of those when they're returned.
We chose the "Rail Fence" pattern using red, cream and navy prints of "Old Glory Gatherings" by Primitive Gatherings for Moda.
Each quilt used 80 strips of each color plus the inner and outer borders. All inner borders are cream but the outer borders are either navy or red.
I asked that the binding be the opposite color of the outer border for all the quilts.

Cathy C. participated in our first round of Quilts of Valor in January.
After completing her quilt, she asked if she could keep it until August to display in the Aurora Guilt Guild's quilt show in August. No problem.
She used the "Chevron" pattern to make this beauty using half square triangles.

Vickie C. attended the retreat last week and got bitten by the "Pinwheels" bug!
She bought a yellow junior jelly roll and white charm pack to make this adorable baby quilt using the "Pinwheels" blocks.
I didn't get a picture of Vickie's baby quilt during the retreat but, thank goodness, she had it with her when she stopped by yesterday.
Vickie said she has one "Pinwheels" block left that she plans to make into a wall hanging for the nursery.
Vickie quilted this adorable baby quilt with her long arm quilting machine. Hopefully, may camera captured the echo quilting and backing fabric.

Kayla brought her own project for 'Show and Tell' yesterday: a wall hanging she made for her room....just because!

Vickie C. just thought she was leaving......we were walking to Karla's car when we had another "Show and Tell" in the parking lot!

Faye H. brought in this tote her Secret Sister made and mailed to her. Faye wanted to share it with us and, so we could post it to the blog for everyone to see!

It's a small world: While she was here, Faye also showed us the blocks she made in the "Quick Curved Ruler" class she'd taken earlier in the day at "The Quilted Garden" in Aurora.
Sherryl D. was the teacher....Sherryl (and Karen) were here when Faye arrived with her stuff.

We received a new product line this week: Bella Solids layer cakes by Moda.
This is a new product Moda is testing to see if they will be added to their regular product line.
We have six different solids layer cakes. We love them. We hope you will too!
Another new product Moda is testing is Junior Jelly Rolls of Bella Solids.
Each jelly roll has 20 strips of a solid color. I guess that's why they're called junior jelly rolls!
We have 23 different colors.....from white to black! These are great for smaller projects, border, sashing or binding.

Sharon will be teaching this table runner class in a couple of weeks. She made this sample using "Kansas Troubles" prints and a red solid.
There are several ways to make this runner, this is just one way to assemble it.
