Pride and Glory; tote patterns; Country Orchard; Quilting Quickly; Scrap Crazy

With Memorial Day and the 4th of July just around the corner, I'm feeling very patriotic these days.  My mood usually determines which fabrics we order and this week was no different!

We received six prints of "Pride and Glory" by Dan Morris for RJR fabrics this week.  Can you hear "The Star Spangled Banner" playing in the background?

The first two prints are blocks of different patriotic/Americana motifs on cream and black backgrounds.  There are more motifs on each print but I couldn't get them all in one picture frame.

We're getting very excited about "Row by Row" which starts in June.  This year's theme is 'water'.

When I think of "water" I think of the white sandy beaches of Cozumel where Sweetness took me for our 10th wedding anniversary....which made me think of all the stuff we lugged to the beach wishing we'd packed something to carry it all in!

That made me think of tote bags.....the beach, "Row by Row", summer time, water, camping, white sandy beaches....

All this thinking about water projected me into a mission to find easy tote bag patterns.

I must admit, I ordered this first pattern because the background reminded me of Cozumel!  I know that's a silly reason but, I couldn't help myself!  The "Tuscany Tote" has 16 inside pockets and is fat quarter friendly.

We also received table runner and quilt patterns specifically designed for charm packs (we really like the "Heads or Tails" table runner by Kansas Troubles).

I recently discovered my favorite 45 mm rotary cutter is no longer being made.  I almost cried.

After much researching, I discovered they are being made under a different label.  WHEW! That was a real nail biter!

If you have a Dritz 45 mm rotary cutter, it's now manufactured by Omnigrid.  The Omnigrid replacement blades will definitely work in the Dritz cutters (I know this because I tired one out on my Dritz).

Needless to say, we now have Omnigrid 45 mm rotary cutters and replacement blades in stock!

The big brown truck brought more stuff this week:
  • May/June issue of Quilting Quickly
  • "Country Orchard" precuts by Blackbird Designs for Moda:  layer cakes, charm packs, jelly rolls and mini charms
  • "Piecemakers" print of quilt block names written in script on a toffee background
  • Moda "Natural" marble and Navy Bella Solids
  • two sizes of O'lipfa rulers: 5"x 18" and 5"x 24"

Dorothy made this block in yesterday's "Scrap Crazy" class.  She didn't want me to take a picture of it because 'it's not sewn together yet".  That's never stopped me before, why would it stop me now?

We love the "Summer Breeze" layer cake she used.
Great job, Dorothy!

National Quilting Day 2015; English Paper Piecing; Show and Tell!

I've been a little lazy about posting to the blog the last couple of weeks.....Spring Break won out over posting stuff!!  Sorry!

The big brown truck brought lots of new stuff last week.  We had to re-arrange the shop so everything would have a home!

8" Scrap Crazy Templates and small clear plastic containers for your stuff!

English Paper Piecing has spread like wild fire in our neck of the woods.  It's so popular we sold out of several sizes of hexagon papers and had to re-order.
I had no idea how many different shapes and sizes of papers there were for E.P.P.  No idea.

Since I have poor impulse control, we now have lots and lots of E.P.P. supplies:  several sizes of hexagon papers; different sizes of diamond papers; Dresden Plate papers; several different sizes of Milliner's needles and two kinds of water soluble glue sticks.

If we don't have the size (or shape) papers you need, just let me know.  I'll be happy to order whatever you need.

I've been working on a top secret project for a friend and keep putting all the stuff in a pile on my desk (hoping nothing falls onto the floor....the baby will eat anything).

When I saw these clear organizers I knew we had to have them.  The tote pictured below has dividers, the others don't.

We have several sizes to choose from to hold the project you're working on!

Dorothy has been bitten by the English Paper Piecing bug! She brought in these hexagons she made (and pieced together) in less than a week.

Mary B. was on her way home from a "Red Hat Society" meeting when she stopped by Saturday.

She was so cute, we couldn't let her leave without taking her picture!

Thanks, Mary for letting me post this to the blog!
