Show and Tell; Jack; new batiks and pre-cuts; Sweet Baby flannels; Q.Q. and Block magazines

Vicki brought in this Quilt of Valor she's making for a friend.  We love Q.O.V.s.

Vicki used the pattern from a recent issue of "Quilting Quickly" for this project.

Thanks, Vicki for sharing your creation with us.  We know the solider receiving it will love it!

Good pal, Myra, stopped by yesterday with two vintage tops she inherited from her in-laws.  Both tops are stunning in their own way.

After close examination, we decided the tulip quilt was made using flower sacks, feed sacks and some other unidentifiable fabrics.

Each block was hand pieced then sewn together by machine.

The second top Myra brought is made entirely from flour sacks and feed sacks.  Each block is hand pieced and is truly stunning in person.

I took a lot of pictures of this top in hopes of capturing it's true beauty.

We asked Myra to bring both tops back after being quilted.

Thanks, Myra, for sharing these stunning tops with us.  We can't wait to see them finished.

Kay worked on a custom apron for a family friend yesterday.  She hand quilted the top and said she has a few surprises for the bottom portion.

We asked Kay to bring in the finished product before giving it to her friend.

We love four legged kids (four legged kids and their well behaved humans are always welcome in the shop).

You haven't really lived until you've been owned by a four legged kid.

Yesterday, Jack the Boxador (boxer and lab) stopped by with his humans.

Jack is a little bit bigger than our usual four legged visitors but, he was able to navigate around the shop without any trouble.

Jack was so tolerant of us....petting him, talking to him, telling him what a good boy his was.....

At one point, Jack grew tired of all the attention and decided to lay down!

Thanks, Jack for bringing your humans (and for putting up with us) yesterday.
very well behaved Jack, the Boxador

Jack, taking a break from all the attention!

Our batik inventory was getting low so, I decided to do something about that!

We received 10 new Moda batik prints this week. I love the names of the colorways:  Sunshine; Sunset; Sea Foam; Earth; Toast; Ice, and Fresh Linen.

Some of the prints are more vibrant than my camera could capture.  The top bolt of yellow (in the picture below) is more splotchy than it appears to be.

The second picture is pretty true to what those batiks look like in person.

It's been a couple of years since we had any flannel in the shop (we had a very bad experience and I swore we'd never carry flannel again).

Never say never!

After the overwhelming response to the "Sweet Baby" pre-cuts we received a couple of weeks ago, we decided to order some of it on the bolt.

We received fourteen bolts of "Sweet Baby" flannel on Thursday and it's already going fast.

I also love the colorway names of these flannels: Blossom Cloud; Sky Cloud; Sunshine Cloud; Pebble; Sky; Blossom; Sunshine and Sprig.

These prints are adorable for the little person in your life whether he/she is already here or is on the way.

Flipping through the September/October issue of "Quilting Quickly" (pictured below) we discovered the "Ragtime Baby"quilt on page 48....using "Sweet Baby" flannels. Who knew?

"Wild Waves" batik layer cakes, charm packs and jelly rolls arrived this week (thanks to the big brown truck!).

I tried to arrange the jelly rolls so you can see all the colors in this collection.

The blotchy yellow top print of the layer cakes and charm packs are actually brighter than this picture shows.

"Color Daze" batik layer cakes, charm packs and jelly rolls by Laundry Basket Quilts also arrived this week.

I tried to arrange the jelly rolls so you can see the colors of this collection too.

The September/October issue of "Quilting Quickly" and the holiday issue of "Block" magazine came in this week.

Check out the "Ragtime Baby" quilt on page 48 of Q.Q....using "Sweet Baby" flannels!
