a new gizmo; apron patterns; fabric; Frivols; Block magazine; Prismacolor pencils; Secret Sibling banquet

A lot has happened in the shop this week. Grab a cup of coffee (or tea) and get comfy. This is a long post.

Two new adult coloring books arrived:  "Opulent Bazaar" and "Cotton+Steel". Both are full of nifty things to color!

If you've known me for more than five minutes, you know I love gizmos and gadgets.  Our latest gizmo to arrive is the large half hexagon template from Missouri Star Quilt Company.

It's designed to use with layer cake pieces but, any 10" square will work.

Ask for a demo the next time you're here.  We'll be happy to show you how the latest addition to my gizmo collection, I mean the shop's ever expanding gizmo collection works.

One of our customers asked if we had any apron patterns.  We didn't.....but we do now!

The apron patterns pictured below are for every skill level, from the beginning sewer to the advanced seamstress.

Some even include patterns for little people while "The Flirty Dozen" offers 12 different combinations from one pattern.

Apparently, the vicious rumor of a "Sundance Trail" fabric shortage is partially true.  Some of these prints have already been discontinued while others are no longer in print.

Thank goodness we received five bolts of this super yummy collection this week before it sold out (or were discontinued).  We also received some of this collection last week but, it has been very popular.

Be warned:  if you are a cowboy, know a cowboy, want to be a cowboy or were a cowboy in a previous life, please don't wait too long to get any of these prints.

I can't be responsible for your actions when we sell out and can't re-order.  You've been warned.

Calling all cows (and those who love them): Continuing with the cowboy/western theme, we received another bolt of "Rawhide" this week.

Last week's print was on tan, this week's new arrival looks like a Holstein cow.

The legal stuff:  I am in no way slamming or defaming Holstein cows nor do I mean any ill will toward Holstein cows.  I love Holstein cows.....medium well with a baked potato!

"Frivols" #8 came in this week.  This month's collection is "Bread N Butter" by American Jane for Moda.

Each tin contains (42) 7"x7" squares, a block pattern, a quilt pattern and a surprise.

What is this month's Frivols surprise?  My lips are sealed.  I'll never tell (except to say it's super cute and you're gonna love it).

The latest issue of "Block" magazine is now in stock. YIPPEE!!

We decided to expand our selection of colored pencils (for those of us addicted to coloring).

We're thrilled to offer all three sets of "Prismacolor" colored pencils (12, 24 and 36).

These pencils are like nothing you've ever used. The colors blend fantastically and literally glide onto the paper.  I'm not kidding.

Before anyone asks:  yes, I bought a set for myself. They're super yummy but I'll share them so you can see how fantastic they are (each set comes in it's own tin for easy storage).

Everyone knows Sweetness cuts fabric faster than I do. The man is a machine.  He's super fast.  I'm not kidding.

When he isn't here, you get stuck with me cutting your fabric.  I'm slow.  Much slower than Sweetness.

If other people are in front of you (and Sweetness isn't here), you may decide to hold your fabric while waiting your turn.  That was sorta kinda the case yesterday.

I originally thought Dorothy (left) was 'stash hugging' the prints she wanted but later learned she was really holding them (literally) for Doris (right)..... while slow poke me was cutting other customer's fabric.

What a gal!  Thanks, Dorothy for making sure Doris got the prints she wanted!

Dorothy decided to take a break from quilting for a while and has been crocheting prayer shawls.

She recently made this purple shawl for Kay and gave it to her yesterday (purple is Kay's favorite color).

Great job, Dorothy.  Kay loved it.

Last night was the 'reveal party' for this round of "Secret Siblings".  Not everyone could attend but, those who did had a great time.

We had a wonderful meal (thanks, Sweetness for the fabulous lasagna), exchanged gifts for March and 'revealed' our identities.

A good time was had by all!
